On the evening of September 9, Apple officially unveiled the new iPhone 17 series. As expected, it includes four models: the standard version, the ultra-thin Air, and two Pro versions in different sizes.
iPhone 17
Visually, this model has hardly changed, except for new colors and even thinner bezels. The display itself grew to 6.3 inches (up from 6.1 in the predecessor). Peak brightness has increased to 3,000 nits.
The key upgrade is the refresh rate — now 120 Hz. Previously, this feature was reserved only for Pro models. Always On Display support has also been added. The screen is protected by the new, stronger Ceramic Shield 2.
The processor remains the same as last year’s model — the A19. Battery life has been improved, with video playback extended by 8 hours compared to the iPhone 16.
The rear cameras include a 48 MP main sensor and a 12 MP telephoto with 2× optical zoom. The front camera is more interesting — 24 MP with Central Stage support, stabilization, and the ability to take both vertical and horizontal shots without changing the phone’s orientation.

iPhone Air
Replacing the less popular Plus model is the Air version. Just like the similarly named iPads, the emphasis here is on record thinness — just 5.6 mm.
The body is made of recycled titanium, and Apple calls it the toughest, most drop-resistant iPhone to date.
There’s a slight bulge at the camera area, but the module itself is single — a 48 MP sensor with optical stabilization and an F/1.6 lens. Apple positions it as a truly universal camera for all scenarios. The front camera is 24 MP with the same features as the iPhone 17, including Face ID.
To achieve the slim profile, Apple removed the SIM tray — this phone will only support eSIM worldwide. Battery capacity hasn’t been disclosed yet, but the company promises all-day use.
The display is a 6.5-inch OLED with 120 Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness. Inside, there’s the new A19 Pro processor and Apple’s N1 wireless chip enabling Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.

iPhone 17 Pro
The Pro finally got a refreshed design — with a camera bar spanning the entire width of the top rear panel.
The chassis is made entirely of aluminum, while beneath the camera sits a Ceramic Shield 2 glass insert that’s integrated into the panel rather than covering it edge to edge. This is likely not just a design choice but also a technical requirement to ensure wireless charging works properly.
The cameras received a major boost: all three main modules are 48 MP. The telephoto supports up to 4× optical zoom and up to 40× digital zoom. Other features include Dolby Vision HDR, 4K/120 fps video, ProRes Log, and ProRes RAW.
Inside is the new A19 Pro chip with enhanced graphics — its GPU has one extra core compared to the version in the Air. It’s paired with a new cooling system using a large vapor chamber, claimed to be 20× more efficient in dissipating heat (in lab tests).

iPhone 17 Pro Max
As usual, the Pro Max stands out with its larger display — 6.9 inches — while keeping the same design as the iPhone 17 Pro.
Its main internal difference is the battery, which Apple says provides up to 39 hours of video playback, making the iPhone 17 Pro Max the company’s longest-lasting smartphone.
Charging has also been improved: the battery reaches 50% in just 20 minutes.
